On the day that Egbert picked up yet another result this season - his 3rd 2nd place to go along with 3 wins, making him the top ranking rider in Canada with 740 points - another milestone occurred: Bret Brunton hung up his cleats to retire. It is a suitable passing of the guard from the wily cobble veteran Brunton to the young flat road/strong man Killebrew.
The cash from Bret's release will go towards training another hill/sprint talent (scouted within the team, no less) Grover Jeffres. Perhaps he will be the second coming of Lucas Sander? We can only hope!
Thinking about it... Bret and Egbert sort of sounds like Burt and Ernie... :)
